Joining adjacent kitchen units
Instructions:
We are now ready to fit the next unit in our kitchen. Place the unit next to the one we just fitted ensuring the side of the unit lines up with the line we drew earlier. As with all units we need to check it is both level on all sides and tight up against the adjoining unit. We do this by adjusting the feet until the unit is level. Once tight against the adjoining unit it is always advisable to run a long level across both units to ensure both units are level once joined as demonstrated here by the fitter. It is now time to clamp the two units together before we use any fixings. Clamp the together at the top and bottom ensuring the gables are held tightly together checking the fronts of the units are flush using your fingers as shown here. Pilot holes should be drilled ready to connect the units together. We advise you drill just in front of the hinge plate as shown so the screws will be hidden by the hinge. Drill your pilot hole while checking the units have stayed flush , then fix the units together using a screw as shown again check the units are flush before removing the clamp. Then using the same position in front of the bottom hinge plate pre drill as before and screw the units together ensuring the correct size screws are used to create a strong connection between the two units. Once you have a strong connection remove the clamp and you are ready for the next unit. Here the fitter is showing how the screw heads are hidden neatly behind the door hinge once the unit door has been re fitted and adjusted.
